For over 80 years, Wallsend Sea Cadets has been a safe harbour for young people — a place where they learn confidence, discipline, teamwork and pride. Our doors have always been open to every child who needed somewhere to belong, no matter their background, no matter their circumstances. But today, that future is at risk.

Our unit is one of the few in the country that owns its own building. That should be a blessing — but right now, it’s a burden we simply cannot carry alone.
The roof that has sheltered generations of cadets is failing. Every delay makes repairs more expensive. We receive no central funding. Not a penny.
Everything we do — every uniform, every activity, every warm, safe night in the building — is powered by volunteers and the kindness of our community.
 Our volunteers give hundreds of hours a year. They give their evenings, their weekends, their energy, their hearts. But they cannot give what we need most right now: the funds to save our building before the damage becomes irreversible.  
If we cannot repair the roof soon, we face the unthinkable — closing our doors, even temporarily, and turning away the young people who rely on us for stability, friendship, and opportunity. We don’t want to lose what generations before us built. We don’t want to let the rain decide our future.
We don’t want to fail the cadets who walk through our doors full of hope. This is why we’re asking for your help. Every donation — big or small — brings us one step closer to keeping our unit open, dry, and safe.
