Hiking Kokoda for Mothering centre
Donation protected
Hi im Megan Delaney, i volunteered with Anne Beach at Neema House in Arusha, Tanzania two years ago - Neema House is a baby rescue centre for orphaned, abandoned and "at risk" babies. It was a trip that changed our lives.
There are plenty of orphanages in Africa for children 5 years and over but very few caring strictly for babies. Due to the high cost of formula and 24 hour care required by newborns and infants many orphanages will not take babies. Neema House takes only babies under the age of 2 years.
The goal is to have these babies adopted or re-united with a family member by the age of 3. To date there have been 21 adoptions and 21 reunifications - since 2012.

There is no payment of any kind for these adoptions.
Understanding that abandoned babies are often the result of a desperate mother with few options a Mothering Centre would provide opportunities for these mothers to keep their babies, to learn self sufficiency, life skills and to provide a positive healthy future for their babies. We would love your assistance to help fund the new Mothering Centre in Neema Village.
We currently hold Movie nights, cater for High Teas, sell at local swap meets, sell chocolates, and are always looking at new ideas for fundraising.
This project intends to restore hope to women through education, business opportunities, parenting skills, life skills and pre and post natal care.
It will also provide an innovative home delivery technique for women who have been scarred by FGM - femal circumcision. As a result with education, women can provide better nutrition and improved living conditions for their families. Through this project it will not only transform their lives but will aslo positively impact in the community.

So o o i am going to hike the Kokoda Trail. By all accounts the Kokoda Track is a "prevailing journey of endurance and indomitable spirit"!! 96 kms awaits in Papua New Guinea. Deep ravines of the Owen Stanley Ranges, raging waters to cross, inhospitable terrain through dense rain forests, humidity and mosquitoes!!
Can i do it?? You Bet!
All donations will go directly to Neema Village for the building of the Mothering Centre - due for building to commence January 2017.
My trek will be completely self funded.
Any support of this project will be greatly appreciated.
What a difference it will make to the lives of these women.
And remember
