The current refugee crisis has brought to life a wave of mixed emotions from people around the world.
While many get caught up in the politics of the dire situation, let us not forget the innocent children that have been stripped of their childhoods.
Let us not forget the torn adolescents trying to find their way through this turmoil.
Let us not forget the brave mothers and fathers that carry the burden of endless sleepless nights spent in worry and grief.
The sad truth is that, these families have the bittersweet hope of seeking refuge and safety in a world that is driven by a fear of the 'other' and more concerned with politics rather than people.
For those that can see past the facade of politics and evident systematic division, this campaign is created to enable people in aiding and helping refugees who are suffering from the chaos of war, displacement, division and heartbreak.
In August 2016, I travelled to Greece's Nea Kavala camp in Polykastro as an independent volunteer so that I could see and experience the unfortunate reality of the families that have been placed in refugee camps.
The families that I met not only touched my heart, they rekindled within me, a deep rooted desire to simply help. Though they themselves had very little to offer in terms of material luxuries, they gave me something far greater. They let me into their lives and trusted me with their stories. They shared their tragedies and losses, their pain and grief along with their anxieties and concerns for the welfare of their children.
I wholeheartedly believe that any family fleeing from war deserves the very same comfort of safety that we relish in, which is why their struggles and sacrifices are very close to my heart.
These families trusted that I would share their stories with likeminded people whose hearts are moved by such tragic struggles. As such, I created this campaign to build a platform that allows for further help to reach the families I have met. Any donations that are made to this campaign will ensure that families are provided with financial aid in order to buy medicine when required as well as, food and clothing for the winter.
Experiencing their lifestyle first hand, I can sincerely say that the living conditions and little regard for human life is absolutely devastating. We need to act.
We have a collective humanitarian obligation to help in the ways that we are able to. I truly believe that in such dire situations, every little act of kindness makes a profound difference and goes a long way in the collective initiative and drive to simply, help.
It is now more important than ever to act as one human body and aid one another in this collective struggle. Therefore, I send my deep gratitude to any individual that helps drive this cause forward and I will make it my mission to ensure that we make a difference, no matter the scale!
