Feel the Bern TV: Filming the #NotMeUs Movement

Hi! Y’all feelin’ the Bern? We are! We, rockyowens + nowandben, are the film team behind the recent The Times Are a-Changin' grassroots Bernie video featuring liarosemusic covering the timeless Bob Dylan cover. We were honored to have the campaign share our "#NotMeUs Love Note" with everyone on the Bernie 2020 e-mail list and recently tweet it out on the morning of the Nevada caucuses! A week ago, we released another video featuring an original tune by Lia paired with the footage we shot leading up to and during the Iowa Caucuses.
We want to be able to create as much content as possible, but there have been major costs involved. Since Ben is editing full time for #NotMeUs, Rocky is trying her best to financially support it all. It’s worth it because we believe it makes a difference and brings new volunteers and voters into our movement. With California included, we will have traveled to 3 states. That’s 3 round trip tickets out of NYC for 2 people. Each trip we need to rent equipment and a vehicle. Then there are countless hours of editing and researching to make sure we create thoughtful content.
We are asking for your help to make sure the movements within this movement are heard and seen. We have terabytes of footage highlighting the importance of our volunteers and grassroots organizations such as DSA and Make the Road Action.
We're setting our creative sights on San Francisco to tentatively interview Shahid Buttar, The Harvey Milk Club, and much more. We're flying to SF from NYC to film the enthusiastic weekend leading up to Super Tuesday. After Super Tuesday, we’ll return to NYC and edit the amazing footage we have out of Iowa, Nevada, and California. Long term, we’re working on a documentary chronicling Senator Sander’s “Bernie Journey” to the White House through the stories and events generated by the people for this political revolution.
Housing is being worked out by our awesome Bernie 2020 fam, Mike Ferguson. Anything we raise beyond our $6,000 goal will help towards the previously incurred travel costs and editing time. You can see more of our Bernie 2020 and client work at the links below.
