Help Donate Masks to Local New York Nursing Homes!
Nursing homes are hotbeds for coronavirus transmission, accounting for over 7,000 or 20% of all coronavirus-related deaths in the US. Just $10 - the cost of one meal - can help make 3 masks for elderly residents in need.
100% of proceeds will be used to purchase materials and hand-sew cloth masks to the local nursing home that I have been volunteering at this past year in NY.
The below picture shows samples and prototypes for reference. Masks are reversible, machine-washable, and have side slits for insertable filters.

Two major factors contribute to coronavirus transmission: coughing/sneezing, and people touching their faces and mouths - a frequent and subconscious habit. Although they're not N-95 masks (which are urgently needed for healthcare workers), cloth masks effectively help block both of these transmission methods. Because COVID-19 can be asymptomatic, it's critical that everyone wears masks to help mitigate the spread of the virus.
Nursing homes are hotbeds for coronavirus transmission. According to a NYTimes report, more than 7,000 people in and around nursing homes have died - that's nearly 20% of all corona-related deaths in the USA. New York specifically accounts for 1/3 of all cases in the US as well as 45% of deaths. Wearing masks is now mandatory in public spaces in several states like NY, NJ, PA, and MD - further exemplifying the effectiveness of masks.
Upon seeing that the residents and staff in my local nursing home were not using masks, I wanted to help not only reduce the spread of the virus in my community but also uplift them by spreading the awareness on the importance wearing masks.
In order to do this I need the help and generous contribution of my community and friends - none of this is possible without you! Thank you in advance for your generosity and helping me make a difference in my local community during this difficult time.
