NHCS PTO Teacher Appreciation Week

Dear Parents,

Teacher Appreciation Week is just around the corner, and we have a beautiful opportunity to come together as a school community to express our gratitude to the incredible teachers who pour so much into our keiki every day.

Our goal is to raise $2,500, which would allow us to give each of our teachers and staff a $100 gift—a heartfelt “thank you” from all of us. These gifts are a way to show our deep appreciation for the care, patience, creativity, dedication, and the love of Jesus they bring to the classroom all year long.

In past years, many of us have celebrated this week by putting together daily themed gifts—hunting down thoughtful items, coordinating with schedules, trying to be original, and remembering all the wonderful staff who support our kids. It has always come from a place of love, but many of us may have felt unsure about how to best honor our teachers and staff members.

We also know this week can come with quiet pressure—wondering if you’re doing enough, if your gift is too small, too much, or if it’ll stack up next to someone else’s Pinterest masterpiece. This year, we’re keeping the heart, but making it easier for everyone.

The PTO has asked around, and the consensus from the school is that gift cards are the way to go! By pooling our donations, we can give every teacher something meaningful—without the guesswork, the last-minute runs to Target, or the 2 a.m. gift bag assembly. And let’s be honest, our amazing teachers probably don’t need a dozen more coffee mugs or “#1 Teacher” plaques to fit in their already full classrooms, despite how certain we each are that our daughter or son’s teacher really is #1! A thoughtful gift card they can actually use? That’s a win.

The PTO will take care of all the shopping, delivery, and each of our own individual donations - and we’re asking you to chip in whatever feels right for your family—$10, $25, $50—it all helps! If we each give a little, we’ll hit our $2,500 goal and make sure every teacher and staff member feels the love.

Thank you for joining us in making this Teacher Appreciation Week simple, thoughtful, and full of gratitude—just as it should be.

With gratitude,

Elaine Gascon and Denise Miller
