Jameson Williams has been selected as the Week 15 NFLPA Community MVP for providing 250 brand new winter coats for students at Drive By Growth, a Detroit youth-based organization that provides mentorship and resources for local kids.

The day after taking the field with the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football, the wide receiver visited DBG to help the kids try on their coats, which had been pre-ordered and specifically sized for the students. Williams also spent time tossing around the football and

talking to them about life, serving as an extension of DBG's commitment to prepare youth to succeed in school and in their communities.

The Jameson Williams Foundation also teamed up with Comerica Bank to make a $10,000 donation to DBG. The funds will go toward expanding DBG's efforts in workforce development, college and career readiness and STEM lab programs. 

This event caps a busy fall for Williams and his nonprofit, which focuses on giving back to the communities that raised him with an emphasis on youth sports, education and supporting families in need. A week earlier, the fourth-year pro hosted a private, free Thanksgiving dinner

for Detroit families, including several DBG students and their loved ones. Additionally, in October he welcomed 400 children and their families for a Halloween trunk or treat afternoon in downtown Detroit, featuring festively decorated cars, bounce houses, local food trucks and plenty of candy and costumes.

In recognition of Williams being named NFLPA Community MVP for Week 15, the NFL Players Association will donate $10,000 to his nonprofit of choice. Along with the other Community MVPs from this season, he will also be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the NFLPA’s highest player honor and includes an additional $100,000 donation.
