I have been a Tuxedo Park resident for over 20 years (Karland Drive). I recently reconnected with an old friend who used to have a car washing business in the parking lot of my old office (behind Patagonia in Buckhead). It has been 12 years since I last saw Ray, and these last years haven't been too good for him. Due to health issues (he was attacked by 2 pit bulls) and some recent family hardships, he and his family have been struggling to keep a roof over their heads.   They have been living in a hotel since November, as they can't afford the first/last month rent requirements that  apartments place on higher credit risks. He has a wife and daughter, and he is trying to provide for them as best he can. He is very proud and does not like accepting charity.   He is a hard worker, and many in our community have been giving him day jobs (he washes cars and does landscaping work).   However, this isn't steady and they are stuck in a vicious cycle of having to pay the nightly fees at the hotel.   It's even hard for him to start a new full time job due to the lack of pay for 2 weeks.  His wife works as well but the pay isn't great.   It's a sad (and far too common) reality where 2 parents both work and can still end up in this situation due to unforeseen circumstances.

We are launching this GoFundMe to raise $3000.  I have been working with the family to help research reasonably priced apartments.   This includes application fees, deposits, and rent.    The funds will only be directed towards housing.   I hope it will give them some much needed margin so they can get back on their feet.   (They have applied for housing assistance with no success.)
