Alteriq Pleasant age 27 was repeatedly tortured by the Chicago Police Department over the last six years. The most recent incident helped to kill him. Police took him into custody between 7/19-7/20 and then brought to Cook County Jail 7/20 where he stopped breathing and his brain was denied oxygen for too long he then was moved to Mt. Sinai Hospital and left to die. He was pronounced 8/2/22. He leaves behind his son age 4.
This fund is to retain lawyers, experts, cover fees for filings, and fight for his civil liberties which were denied to him. He was arrested on a out standing warrant for not coming to court. He was fighting for police brutality which happened against him and the Chicago Police Department claims was against them. Video footage shows Alteriq never touched them. This fund will help to fight that case for him and several others now that he is gone.
His body was riddled with burn marks and taser marks. His heart gave out. This fund is to ensure no other person suffer. The way he choose to live was used against him but he was loved and he was wanted. He leaves behind a son who misses his daddy dearly.
Alteriq lived on the streets because he choose to, as many who battle serious mental health issues often do. This factor helped to contribute to his treatment by the Chicago Police Department and other entities. He was abused, denied his rights and overlooked. His death could have been avoided with prompt medical treatment.
