Join As MEMBER to Keep Our Community’s Story Alive
Together and over the 23 years, we’ve built and elevated our community profile:
- Raised $230,000 for Latin students at TMU and ILAC, plus $32,000 for a man who lost his arms (Jose P. in 2002)
- Built lasting programs like the TLN 10 Most Influential Hispanics (17 years, last one a few days ago), and Amigo Expo (past September) to connect businesses & professionals
- Led 3 Hispanic missions to raise our profile and successfully lobby the Prime Minister and their Cabinet
- Founded 5 associations that continue to help hundreds (2 CCPA chapters, HOLA OPS, Hispanotech, Can-Hispanic Business Alliance)
- Co-led the initial charge to have the Government declare October as Hispanic/Latin Heritage month (now nationwide), and the Census Canada Community profiles
- Secured huge business & housing deals with the 2015 Pan American Games
- Mentored hundreds immigrants – people like you or your family when they first came here.
All this done with love on my free time, not for profit because I don’t sell any goods or services (my real job is not enough to cover all these community expenses).
But I had to personally cover losses including over 30K for the awards programs alone. TLN now handles all financial duties but I continue volunteering for free to keep our community inspired. I’ve done all this simply to help others find the guidance and inspiration I never had.
Our website (HispanicBusiness.ca) contains our community history, events, and stories of more than 170 inspiring leaders - and we want to add more content and new programs. But maintaining it now costs over $1,000 a year, and we need your help to keep going.
We’re creating a Membership Fund to raise $5,000 — enough to pay for this year's website and to enhance and secure the site for the next two years. Funds beyond our goal will go to new high-impact programs programs Amigo Expo at the lowest cost possible.
