Help Us Bring Back the Magic of a Community Christmas Tree

Marine City has a long-standing tradition of celebrating the holiday season with community gatherings, festive decorations, and cherished events. This year, the Marine City Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to bring back the Community Christmas Tree—a beloved symbol of holiday cheer that unites our town.

Our goal is to create a Community Christmas Tree Art Project that celebrates our local youth’s artistic talents, fosters community spirit, and supports the vibrancy of our town. By showcasing art from local students and engaging families in holiday activities, we aim to strengthen community bonds and create lasting memories for everyone.

What Makes This Tree Special?

Octagonal Art Base: The tree will feature a custom-designed, 10-foot diameter octagonal base showcasing artwork from Marine City’s elementary, middle, and high school students. The 4’ x 5’ panels will display winning pieces from an annual drawing contest.

Community Ornament Tradition: Families will have the opportunity to decorate large outdoor ornaments to add to the tree, creating a new annual tradition.

Durable & Sustainable Design: Built to last by Mechanical Fabricators, the base will feature a red powder-coated finish for weather resistance, ensuring the tree can be enjoyed year after year.

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony: This project will be the centerpiece of Marine City's holiday celebrations, complementing events like Merrytime Christmas, Twinkling Forest, and the Santa Parade.

Support Local Businesses: Attract visitors to our downtown area, boosting foot traffic for local shops and restaurants.

How You Can Help:

Our original estimate for this project was over $7,500. We applied for a grant and we were denied. EASTERN MICHIGAN BANK reached out to us and they are willing to donate $2,500 to this project. Real Estate One Westrick has also donated $1,000. Now we are reaching out to our community, friends, and supporters to help us raise $4,000 to cover the remaining costs of materials, construction, lighting, decorations and labor. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a big difference! Donors of $100 or more will have their family names or business name on the base of the art base.

The funds will be used to pay for the following:

Construction of the octagonal base and art panels

Real fresh cut evergreen Christmas tree

LED lighting & tree topper

Large outdoor ornaments for community decorating

Installation and storage costs

Labor costs
