MUTUAL AID REQUEST For Jade Phoenix & her Family
Donation protected
Greeting friends, loved ones, and caring strangers! My name is Jade Phoenix Martinez, I am a Filipinx trans woman, cultural worker, LGBTQ+ advocate, artist and mother living in Pasadena Ca.
Since the turn of the new year my family and I have experienced so many setbacks. From being displaced for 3 weeks by the Eaton fires in January, the attacks on the trans and POC/Undocumented communities by this administration and the recent cuts to DEI funding and programming in higher education from which I made most of my living as a free lance LGBTQ consultant and traveling artist/speaker, workshop facilitator for the past decade.
I haven’t been offered work in the new year and all of my previous contacts are seeing significant budget cuts in their programming. This path way seems to no longer be available to me as a means of making a living and I have been out here looking for jobs and employment as a way to pivot from this sudden shift and haven’t yet even been able to get an interview.
All of this to say that me and my family are currently drowning in back pay bills that we owe (rent and utilities) while mine and my daughters basic needs are being neglected (and it’s breaking my heart). We really need a little support at this moment just to try and catch up and get our heads above water for a month as I ramp up my search for employment and a sustainable income.
If you have any mutual aid that you can afford to share with me and my family to get us thru this month, it would help us catch up on our past due utilities (internet, water, heat, etc.) as well as catching up on back pay rent to get us caught up.
Any aid, support, donations and shares is greatly appreciated and our gratitude is with you deeply. Thank you!
