Dear Citizens of Marion,
The Board of Directors and volunteers of Main Street Marion send greetings to the citizens of the Marion. The National Main Street Center is a non-profit organization focused on the revitalization of small town America. Main Street Marion is proud to be a part of this National organization. Extensive Main Street research has proven it is vital for small towns to revitalize their downtown core areas in order to attract investment into the community as a whole. Therefore, the goal of Main Street Marion is the revitalization of the downtown and business corridor of Marion with the ultimate goal of a vital and thriving business district.
Main Street Marion has successfully implemented, planned or participated in many important community projects to include:
· Façade improvement planning
· Holiday and Seasonal decoration (windows and park)
· Alabama 200 Bicentennial Celebration (Jazz and Museum)
· Monthly Community Cleanup
· Trunk or Treat Halloween Celebration
· Mural development and placement
· Park renovation/Landscaping Improvements
Main Street Marion is also working towards the renovation of two major buildings on the square to prepare them for businesses and another building to be an art center downtown (privately funded). All of these efforts are non-profit and will transform the downtown positively.
We are contacting the citizens of Marion to ask for your support for these projects. We know you feel a sense of pride in our town and hope you want to be involved in the positive progress we’re making. Every bit counts and we ask you to support our efforts in any way you can.
