✍ Our Story
We’re Joshua and Anaiah — a young Nigerian-American married couple expecting twins this December. We never imagined our first year of marriage would look like this — separated by ICE, rebuilding from the ground up, and praying for a chance to bring our children into a home filled with peace instead of pressure.
Right now, Joshua is over 1,300 miles away in ICE custody, detained just weeks before our wedding. And Anaiah is in New York, three months pregnant, navigating a high-risk pregnancy without a home, a car, or the ability to work due to constant medical complications.
This wasn’t the plan.
We had dreams, not legal filings.
We were building a life — and suddenly, we found ourselves trying to keep it from collapsing.
What We’re Facing
• Our apartment is gone.
• All our money was spent on legal and immigration filings.
• Joshua was our sole provider.
• Anaiah’s health has made it unsafe for her to work.
• We’ve been forced to live apart during what should’ve been the most joyful season of our lives.
• Now, our twins are due in just a few months — and we have nowhere to bring them home to.
But this isn’t just Anaiah’s story, or Joshua’s.
It’s our family’s story.
And we are telling it together — even across state lines, through glass walls, and between court hearings.
Why We’re Asking
We are not asking for sympathy.
We’re asking for the strength to survive this moment — together.
We’re praying to raise $50,000 to help us:
• Bring Joshua home before the twins arrive by paying his ICE bond and completing the necessary legal steps
• Relocate to Texas, where we can rebuild in a more affordable, secure environment as a family of four
• Purchase a reliable vehicle, so Anaiah can attend medical appointments safely with the babies — especially during winter months
• Prepare baby essentials in advance, like cribs, car seats, diapers, and food, so we’re not scrambling after their arrival
We don’t want luxury. We just want to give our children a peaceful beginning.
We want to be together again.
And we want to start over — with dignity, with stability, and with love leading the way.
✨ Our Heart
If you’ve ever loved someone who’s been taken away…
If you’ve ever fought to keep a family together…
If you’ve ever built something out of nothing but faith…
Then you already understand us.
We are not broken.
We are becoming.
And with your help — we’ll make it home in time to welcome our babies together.
If you feel led to give, we are beyond grateful.
If not, please share our story. That alone could change everything.
From our family to yours — thank you for seeing us, for believing with us, and for holding space while we fight for our family’s future.
With all our love,
Joshua & Anaiah Popoola (and the twins-in-waiting)
