Hello! My name is Abby and I am here to make a desperate effort to save my sister. My sister, Lydia Echols, is a type one diabetic that is dying. She is in end stage renal failure, has gastroparesis, hypertension, blind in one eye, is constantly in the hospital with infections in her port, barely survived Encephalitis, and has now broken her leg in two places after multiple infections in her hip.
She has been trying to start the process of getting on the donor list but with the failures of our healthcare system and the constant hospitalizations she is not getting very far. Her husband is donating plasma to make ends meet because he is her primary caregiver and she has to do hemodialysis 5-6 times a week. My family has done everything we can; running up credit cards just to buy plane tickets to the transplant hospital in Tampa just for them to tell her they can't help her till she fixes her other health problems.
If you cannot donate but you know somewhere or someone who can help my sister, please, please let us know. Doctor, charity or whoever that is willing. She's only 29, and has been languishing with little help for the last 10 years because we come from an impoverished family.
That's what this money would be for; if you donate to her you will be buying her everything health insurance doesn't cover and help her and her husband stay housed and fed. She could get an insulin pump and blood sugar sensors so she can be more regulated, more coverage for all the doctor appointments she has to go to, and generally make her life easier during these trying times. If you cannot donate, please share this page. Every cent counts. Help me save my big sister. Thank you.
