At Calm in the Wilderness Ministry, our mission is to bring both practical care and spiritual hope to individuals and families facing hardship. We serve by providing essential care packages, faith-based mental health counseling, and pastoral ministry to those who are homeless, struggling, or justice-involved.
Each care package costs an average of $15–$20 and includes socks, wash rags, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair combs, hand sanitizer, water bottles, wet wipes, snacks, feminine hygiene products, and more. These small but meaningful necessities provide relief, warmth, hygiene, and dignity to those who might otherwise go without.
Our goal is to distribute at least 20 care packages per month for an entire year, ensuring steady support while also preparing for unforeseen needs.
Extending Hope Behind the Walls
Beyond providing physical aid, Calm in the Wilderness Ministry partners within the Juvenile Justice System to offer faith-based counseling, mentorship, and pastoral ministry to incarcerated youth. Many of these young people carry the weight of trauma, neglect, and broken family systems. By offering mental health services and Christ-centered discipleship, we provide pathways of hope and transformation.
To support this ministry, we seek donations of Bibles, devotional materials, journals, and ministry resources—tools that help young people encounter God’s Word and build lasting faith.
Stronger Together: Local Partnerships
We believe in community collaboration, which is why Calm in the Wilderness Ministry partners with local organizations such as Tacoma Rescue Mission and Nativity House. These partnerships allow us to extend our reach, ensuring that care packages, mental health support, and ministry efforts impact even more individuals experiencing homelessness across Pierce County.
How You Can Help
$1 contributes toward a care package item.
$15–$20 provides a complete care package.
$25 places a Bible into the hands of a justice-involved youth.
$50 equips a small group inside juvenile detention with devotional and counseling materials.
Monthly giving sustains our care package ministry, Juvenile Justice outreach, and community partnerships year-round.
Why It Matters
Your generosity helps someone stay warm, maintain hygiene, and feel a sense of worth. For youth in the Juvenile Justice System, it means receiving encouragement, prayer, and the truth of God’s Word. For individuals on the streets of Tacoma, it means being reminded that they are seen, valued, and loved.
As Romans 12:13 reminds us:
“Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
And Proverbs 11:25 promises:
“The generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
When you give, you are not only meeting immediate needs—you are fulfilling a spiritual calling by joining Christ’s mission of restoration.

Be the Hands and Feet of Christ
Your support brings comfort, counseling, and Christ’s love to individuals and families in need.
Together, we can restore hope—one care package, one Bible, one heart at a time.
