On April 25th, 2025, our beautiful nephew Lorenzo celebrated his first birthday - a milestone we weren't sure he would ever reach. Born 10 weeks early, Lorenzo came into the world fighting for his life.
Shortly after birth, he had to be resuscitated and wasn't breathing for 2.5 minutes. He suffered a Grade 4 intraventricular hemorrhage, a severe bleeding on the brain, which led to bilateral cystic periventricular leukomalacia, a type of white matter brain injury. The outcome: Cerebral Palsy, currently affecting all four limbs, his ability to speak, and cognitive development. Lorenzo faces global developmental delays and requires around-the-clock care and therapies.
After a harrowing 76-day stay in the NICU and special care, Lorenzo finally came home - but his medical journey is far from over.

A Message From His Auntie
My name is Jessie, and I’m Lorenzo’s proud auntie. I’m running this fundraiser on behalf of my sister and her beautiful family, who have been navigating this journey with incredible strength, love, and resilience. I see firsthand the daily challenges they face and the intense level of care Lorenzo needs. I want to do everything I can to help ease the financial burden and give him the best possible future.

Our Mission: Give Lorenzo a Chance at a Better Future
Lorenzo currently attends physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy each week. These ongoing therapies, which are covered by the NDIS, are helping him build strength, coordination, and communication. He works incredibly hard, and we’re so proud of every small milestone. But because of the severity of his brain injury, his progress is slow and uncertain.
We are now fundraising to give Lorenzo a chance to participate in a stem cell clinical trial, an emerging and promising area of research for children with cerebral palsy. We are working toward enrolling him in a trial like this one , which could offer him a chance to improve his movement, speech, and cognitive ability.
Unfortunately, this clinical trial is not covered by the NDIS or public health system, leaving families like ours to carry the full financial burden. While the treatment is still in the research phase and outcomes are not guaranteed, it offers a real possibility of improving Lorenzo’s quality of life - a chance we believe is worth fighting for.
We’re also planning ahead for Lorenzo’s future needs, including a modified vehicle to accommodate a wheelchair, which he will likely require in the coming years.

How Your Support Will Help
Your donation will go toward:
- Stem Cell Therapy Treatment and associated travel expenses
- Mobility equipment, including a wheelchair and future wheelchair-accessible vehicle
Why This Means So Much
Lorenzo is a joyful, strong, and resilient little soul. Despite all he has been through, he greets the world with curiosity and love. He has already beaten the odds - and with your help, we can continue to give him the best possible chance at a life filled with mobility, communication, and independence.
Please donate if you can, and share his story far and wide. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
From the bottom of our hearts - thank you.
