For the past five years This Story Australia has been a self funded charity travelling the nation to video document the stories of our WWII veterans. Right now your urgent help is needed to make it happen. Our goal is to interview as many veterans over the next twelve months as we can.
September 2nd 2025 marks 80 years since the end of Australia's involvement in WWII.
The Department of Veteran Affairs noted on ANZAC Day this year that there are less than 2500 WWII veterans left - and that is from nearly a million Australians who served.
What the numbers don't show are how many of the 2500 veterans are in palliative care, ill or unable to share their memories. And they are passing away everyday. For an overwhelming number, 2026 will be their last ANZAC Day.
We need to act immediately to ensure the stories of our veterans are preserved as only they can tell them.
Help us by donating to this campaign so we can get to our veterans before it is too late.
Each documentary interview costs $10,000 and they are donated back to the family, community and network of State Libraries for free. Your support is giving families memories to cherish and also preserving Australia's unique history. If you need more information, visit our website This Story Australia and reach out personally.
