Pittsburgh Technology Council’s 2019 EDGE cohort is sponsoring a fundraising campaign on behalf of the Light of Kimberly , a Pittsburgh-based non-profit working to address the unmet needs of victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse. Light of Kimberly was started in 2015 by our EDGE sister, Kimberly Doubt, who is herself a survivor.
Across the country, more than 10 million people are victims of domestic violence. As you read this, someone in our country is being physically abused by an intimate partner. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence research found that Pennsylvania domestic violence programs served nearly 2,500 people in a single day, while 252 requests for services went unmet.
All funds raised through this campaign will be distributed to the Light of Kimberly, which will continue to invest in basic needs such as housing, transportation, food and childcare, as well as emotional support for survivors and their children.
