Baby Lewis Meyer
Donation protected
Cal Fire Fire Apparatus Engineer John Meyer, his wife Chantel Meyer and their sweet new baby boy, Lewis are asking for our help.
On Nov 8th 2016 Chantel was feeling "off" not her normal beautiful self. John and Chantel decided to bump up their OB appointment by a few days. They were told she had a large amount of protein in her urine and dangerously high blood pressure. Chantel was diagnosed with severe Pre-Eclampsia. She was admitted to Sierra Vista Labor and Deliver. It literally went from 0-100 in no time at all. Hospital gowns, IVs, vitals elevated, trying to prevent her from having seizures, medicine to help speed up the development of Lewis' little lungs, and a C-section in the next few days. Their minds and emotions were off the charts. Chantel and Lewis' vitals stabilized, they were able to let baby Lewis grow in mom a little while longer. They spent 20 days in the hospital before Chantel went into pre-term labor. The decision was made to do an emergency c-section and Lewis was born 7 weeks early 11-27-2016 at 1:35 a.m. weighing 3lbs 11oz. and 16.75" long.
Chantel was discharged after spending 24 days in the hospital.
Lewis still has many challenges ahead of him and about a 7 week stay in the NICU.
It seems like the world has been throwing challenge after challenge for Chantel and John, while trying to expand their little family and conceive a child. For 3 1/2 years Chantel and John have been battling infertility. During this battle Chantel was diagnosed with Cervical cancer, which she conquered! Then came endless trips to the fertility specialist in Santa Barbara, 3 failed intra-uterine inseminations (IUI), 2 failed In-vitro Fertilizations (IVF), and low and behold with some special help thier third IVF process was a success! Lewis was conceived, and they were off to the races with all the exciting doctor appointments, ultrasounds and everything else that comes with the beautiful process of building a baby.
John and Chantel are deeply touched by the outpouring support and love by all their friends and family, for baby Lewis.
During his stay, they will be doing a lot of driving to visit as much as possible and eating on the go. Once Lewis is ready to breastfeed their plan is to park a RV/trailer in the parking lot to be within walking distance. With fuel costs, eating on the go, medical costs, everyday expenses and both parents being out of work they are anticipating money becoming tight pretty quick.
If you wish to make a donation, any amount would be appreciated.
