Lamin Darboe (West Africa)
Donation protected
My name is Jeremy Scruggs and I'm creating this fundraiser to assist a family in Gambia, Africa that I've built a relationship with through social media. I spent 9 months in middle east Africa in 2004-2005 and saw first hand what these 3rd world countries go through and i feel strongly about giving back to those less fortunate. His name is Lamin Darboe. When I first met him he was 18 years old and taking care of his 2 brothers, mother and a baby boy that was found left in the street that him and his mother took in since the parents had abandoned the child. Recently his mother has passed leaving just him to take care of his brothers. Since he is a Christian and all of his neighbors are Muslim that refuse to assist him in any way with the burial of his mother. I assist him with a online money transfer company called Remitly to a zenith bank in Gambia to assure that he receives the money himself. I've had multiple video calls and phone calls with Lamin, his brothers and mother before she passed over this past year. He is wise and faithful to Jesus Christ beyond his years. Recently with donations we have been able to purchase a wheelbarrow for manual labor, we assisted in getting him insurance, License, and a Gambia Revenue Authority Clearance Certificate for Registration of Private Vehicle to taxi people to and from work etc. The goal now is to raise enough money for Lamin to provide for the orphanage of 30 children with more arriving at times. Lamin is now building a home for the 30 homeless kids and helping them to get education when possible. I Care for Orphan Center is a charity organization in Gambia and this fundraiser is made to help the orphans become more self-sufficient in the mission to spread the Gospel not just with words but with Action: Feeding, clothing, medical, accommodation and educating through long term planning and fundraising. This is a message below from Lamin. He also speaks very good English.
I’m Lamin Darboe, I’m 18 years old from The Gambia ( West Africa )…
I’m a head of an orphanage consisting of 30 children whose parents are dead or unable to care for them.
I learned the culture and language of the kids am trying to serve. The traditions, the food, the way people relate to each other, how respect is shown and how respect is earned.
I provide home, food, clothing, organizing games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extracurricular activities for them.
I wanted to share the difficulties I’m facing with the kids; we have limited resources such as food, clothing, shelter, and medical care, which can make it difficult for me to provide for the children's needs adequately.
Hi friends, join me in making a difference by supporting a good cause! Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to the orphans. I have been doing what I can here and there, but it's never enough. I'm trying to help out this crew of selfless brothers and sisters in Gambia be able to provide more for the children who were left with nothing. Any donations go directly to them through me wiring using a fundraiser account.
Donations so far have been able to start a building process up to this stage we are now.
Pictures from the orphanage I and my community brothers are working very hard to reach to our potential. More donations will also allow the children to pay school fees and get an education. Things we take for granted here in this country. The brothers who operate the orphanage and the people who help are trying to grow crops so they can provide more food during times of need, but the cost of maintaining crops isn't free so help must accompany.
We need help with In-Kind donations for the orphans.
Help with Food
Help with Shelter and Bedding
Help with Clothing and Hygiene
Help with Education.
Help with Games and Activities
Please we need your help to give the orphans a better living ..
Lamin Darboe (The Gambia)
All donations are grateful and gifts from above until we can make better for us.
