I am one in a million. I am a genetic carrier of CJD. My Dad, my Aunt and my Grandmother have all passed away from this horrific disease. A disease that has no cure and no treatment. This is why I want to be part of Prion research studies. I am currently working towards getting to Boston for the second part of the study in January.
What does a study entail? It includes many aspects both medically and financially. Such as brain scans, blood work, muscle tests, cognitive tests and lumbar puntures. Hotel stays, plane tickets and time away from work. This is why I need your help. The first study will pay for my plane ticket and two nights in the hotel. However, it will not pay for my husband's flight, food, the additional night in the hotel and miscellaneous expenses along the way.
I want to help others by allowing scientists to take samples from me and to test on my body in order to find a cure. Basically, I will become a Lab Rat for CJD research. I have no doubt that some day a cure can and will be discovered. However, I cant do this alone.
Your donations will be used towards plane tickets, hotel and other travel expenses. All excess money from this trip to Boston will be put aside for the next trip which will be 6 weeks later, this trip is considered voluntary and there are no funds from the study to help with our expenses. Any additional money will be used towards future research study expenses. Any donation that you can make will be a tremendous help towards finding a cure for CJD.
