UPDATE (1.15.25)

Main Changes:

-LC did not get to see his siblings for the holidays/I did not get to see my other two kiddos.

-The lawyer extended the payment deadline until 2.13.25 and I am officially in contract.

-LC and I both have had to adjust to ALOT of changes in a very short window and have gone into survival mode.

-We are safe & doing the best we can.

-Next hearing is 1.28.25

Current Events:

L.C’s father was arrested on 12/16/24 for assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, and violation of a restraining order. This is not the first time, nor second…

His siblings were placed in a temporary foster home by CPS.

This brave young kiddo, my son (age 11)—we’ll refer to him as L.C.—made a bold choice this year.

He chose to leave his abusive, negligent, callous life behind in CA and stay here in Portland with me.

He has sacrificed what he was accustomed to: friends, family, everything he’s ever known, but most significantly, his siblings. R & E both agreed that L.C. was getting the brunt of it all and it would be better for him to stay with me.

L.C. arrived June 17th and as of this week has met his 6 consecutive month threshold that ORS requires for him to have more legal protection/opportunity within the system.

And although this is an incredibly significant milestone, we have hit a rough patch.

The organization (VOA) that was helping us navigate the laws/system has met their capacity and is referring this situation to an attorney.

L.C. now qualifies to have representation here in Oregon, but… simultaneously his father is pursuing to have him return back to California—permanently.

He purchased a one-way ticket on Christmas Day departing at 1:30pm.

Of course, L.C. wants to visit with his siblings, especially for the holiday. But not at the expense of not being able to return.

My goal with this urgent fundraiser is to obtain enough emergency funds to ensure L.C. and myself can travel to California to see his siblings for Christmas and do so with the protection and guidance of an attorney.

(The minimum retainer fee is $5k)

That’s all he wants. Just to spend Christmas with me and E & R and come back to Portland.
