Kiwamirembe: Giver of Peace Project:

The Kiwamirembe: Giver of Peace Project represents the effort of fourteen courageous individuals from Chicago, USA to assist The Stepping Stones Foundation of Hope in constructing lasting improvements that will benefit the Bunnamweri, Uganda community. The Stepping Stones Foundation of Hope  is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that hopes to empower the girls, orphans and elderly of the Bunnamweri community by providing access to education, basic healthcare, clean water and sustainable, eco-friendly technology. The SSFOH has identified three vital projects with accumulating goal amounts that will empower the beautiful yet impoverished Bunnamweri community to blast open new doors of social and economic opportunity.

Goal #1 Three Micro Aquaponic Farms
$2,400

What is Aquaponics?
Aquaponics combines aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (the soil-less growing of plants) to grow fish and plants together in one integrated system. The fish waste provides an organic food source for the plants, and the plants naturally filter the water for the fish.

Goal #2 Kiwamirembe Aquaponic Classroom with Micro Aquaponic Farms  $7,500

Using water bottle construction, The Kiwamirembe Aquaponic classroom will educate teenage students about aquaponic construction, management and enable them to make a lasting improvement in their community.  Your contribution will directly fund the supplies needed to construct the building, including some startup equipment (i.e., tools, chalk boards, instructional models, etc.).

What is Water Bottle Construction?
Water bottle construction consists of filling empty water bottles with soil and using them as bricks to construct  buildings that can last up to 300 years. It's low cost, low maintenance, bio climatic and eco-friendly.
