On the afternoon of July 7, 2025, Kirk Alan Helm, 65, of Ballston Spa, NY, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Kirk fought a courageous battle with liver disease, surviving a liver transplant in 2016. His children, Melissa and Patrick, and family are eternally grateful for the 8 years and countless memories this invaluable gift of life provided.

In the four months leading to his passing, Kirk was hospitalized at Weill Cornell in New York City, where he fought every day to get well enough to retransplant his failing liver with a new one.

Out of love and care for their father, Kirk's children spent the vast majority of the last 4 months by his bedside in New York City. Taking multiple weeks of unpaid family medical leave and incurring significant unforeseen expenses related to his prolonged hospitalization.

In lieu of flowers, rather than instructing loved ones to make donations to a charity of his choosing, Kirk requested for anyone wishing to honor his legacy to please contribute what they wish towards getting his children back on their feet.

Patrick and Melissa would like to also recognize and thank their aunts, Kirk's sisters: Francine Pinto, Patti Sue Dodson (Chip), Tracy Lotz (Tom) and Alison Helm, and their mother, Kirk's former wife Lori (White) Wetmore for their continued support throughout this journey; including their contributions to ensure his memorial expenses did not fall on his children's shoulders.
