Ive known Monty since 2012 when he came to Spain having escaped torture and persecution in his native country in the Middle East . Without Residencia he is denied regular work , bank account and driving licence : however he has consistently tried to meet the criteria whilst living in very difficult circumstances, including being actually on the street. After some deteriorated health he was transferred from hospital and is currently in a temporary homeless persons shelter in Malaga where he has made a good recovery and found renewed hope - having received some legal help and most importantly, a place on a three month training course which would qualify him to get a work contract , leading to residencia at last. The course is some distance away from the Hostal so he will need funds for
>public transport to and from hostal
>a very modest morning meal
> a few personal items for the course
Monty is a very personable man of 54, with a highly successful professional background in Engineering and electronics. He speaks English, Spanish and Arabic fluently and has much to offer the community.
Having exhausted all the many avenues for documentation required, this truly seems to be a golden last chance opportunity.
PLEASE WILL YOU HELP US to HELP MONTY have a DECENT LIFE? Whatever you can afford will be MOST GRATEFULLY RECEIVED .
It's a LONG TIME since we were so successful in raising funds for Monty and hopes were high as the Social worker and lawyer at the Shelter did their best to get his documentation for residencia.. so many disappointments have followed - basically the Egyptian Embassy is not responding to any communications for him to renew his passport and all depends on this.
So....we are still supporting him ....he receives no financial support and unless he gets a passport (860e yes !) he cannot be considered for training, work or the recent government initiative for unregistered people.
Monty is now waiting for some heart surgery but stays hopeful. Please contribute anything if you can....
