My name is Katy Snow, this year I am 14 years old and I am the founder of Katy's Kids. Katy's Kids is as simple as love and Jesus! God broke my heart when I was 9 years old and I realized that so many kids didn't have presents on Christmas or food to eat or even a backpack with supplies for the first day of school. I cried to my mom and she asked me what I was going to do about it. 

I started by doing the only thing I could do to raise money: baking my famous apple pies and selling them to raise money for kids- Katy's Kids. Every year around September, I started my "Apple-Pie Drive" to raise money. Now, 6 years later, I am a licensed 501c(3) and I don’t have to make pies any longer because my community has blown me away with support! With the money raised, volunteers for Katy's Kids go out and purchase Christmas presents including shoes, clothes and coats, for kids on my list- names given to me by community members, schools, my church and other families. We also supply food baskets for a Christmas meal for each family. In 2019, I received the “Making a Difference Award” for my community! I was on the news! But it’s not me alone- it’s so many of us. 

Also, every year at back to school time, we supply backpacks filled with school supplies. In 2019 we did 30 backpacks, 2020 we did 600, and 2021 we did over 1,000 backpacks! I have leveled off now and we buy, fill and donate 200-500 bags with supplies every year. It only takes $40 to sponsor one child with a backpack full of supplies for that first day of school. $40!

I am hungry to help these kids. I know that if they feel loved by this kindness from us, it would change everything in their lives.
