Hi everyone,
I'm Despina and I am fundraising on behalf of the King Street Cooperative Community Garden (KSCCG) located in the Heritage District of downtown Whitby, Ontario, Canada.
This project converts a neighbourhood greenspace into a permaculture food forest.
Our objectives are as follows:
- To create awareness and promote education in our community regarding environmental issues associated with native biodiversity and food security.
- To establish the garden as an inspiring, transformative space, in keeping with the spirit of Whitby’s cultural heritage, in order to create positive interconnections within our larger community, which strive to benefit the well-being of all.
- To honour ecological systems and biodiversity through the use of sustainable food production methods and garden design order to grow fresh food for our local food bank.
We welcome donations in-kind, or funds to cover items such as the following:
- Perennial and annual plants, and materials to start indoor seedlings
- Soil amendments (such as compost, soil, and mulch)
- Garden maintenance supplies (such as gloves, tools, buckets, and hoses)
- Administrative costs (such as insurance)
Please note: As we are not a registered charity, any donations will not be eligible for a tax receipt. We appreciate your support in this new adventure and we look forward to spending less screen time and more green time with you in the future!
