Rehab Haiti

Hi, my name is Kesia Derilus. I am starting this GoFundMe to support an organization that is close to my heart. I was presented with the opportunity to volunteer in Haiti with some physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to serve individuals with disabilities in a clinic in Gonaive, Haiti. I am of Haitian descent, my mother and father are from the small country and came to America in the 1980s to create a better life for my siblings and I. I was raised in the Haitian culture but have not been able to visit the country myself. I have always wanted to visit Haiti, so when this opportunity presented itself it hit close to home for me as a fellow healthcare professional as well as being aware of all the natural disasters that has rampaged the island, it pulls on my heartstrings to go and serve in the way that I know how. I am a physical therapist assistant and I could not let this event pass me by.

How Can You Help?

I am asking for your support to get me to Haiti. I was presented with this opportunity recently and would like to be part of the upcoming trip from January 12-20th 2019. It is an 8 day trip that will involve meeting the amputee soccer and basketball players. The majority of the trip will be assisting in the Haiti Rehab Project Rehabilitation Clinic and Community based Rehabilitation programs in the surrounding communities. I would appreciate your support in my fundraising for expenses such as immunizations, travel, lodging, security, food and transportation. Giving back is something that I have always been passionate about, the opportunity to give back where my roots lay is exciting and life changing for me. Any type of support such as reposting and sharing would be greatly appreciated.

The project is called the Haiti Rehab project, it is a non-profit organization run by Ginger Oliver, a physical therapist who started this project after volunteering and witnessing the need for the disabled after the magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti in 2010. If you would like to donate and be part of the change or research the project you can visit http://communityrehabproject.com/ any support will help.

Forever grateful, thank you guys!!
