Dearest friends,

During my time living in England, I made a very special friend who, beyond offering her support and company, helped me navigate many situations that would have been just difficult to face on my own.

Nou is from Egypt, and she migrated to London a few years ago in search of better opportunities to support her family.

She is currently going through a very challenging moment. Her mother was the victim of a trap set by her stepfather after she tried to separate from him due to abuse (something that, unfortunately, is not well protected within the cultural and social context in many Arab communities). In retaliation, he placed drugs in her luggage before a trip out of the country. As a result, my friend’s mother is now being detained in Cairo.

As you can imagine, the situation is overwhelming. Despite Nou’s emotional and spiritual strength, as her friend I feel the need to do more. Those of you who know me understand that I would do the same for any of you in a difficult moment.

So I’ve decided to try to raise funds to support her. Every penny truly makes a difference right now. Whether it helps cover legal fees for a lawyer, a plane ticket for her to visit her mother, a meal, a coffee… nothing given from the heart is ever too small - on the contrary, it adds up in a meaningful way ❤️

Durante mi tiempo viviendo en Inglaterra, hice una amiga muy especial que, más allá de ofrecerme apoyo emocional, me ayudó a enfrentar muchas situaciones que habrían sido difíciles de sobrellevar por mi cuenta.

Nou es de Egipto y migró a Londres hace algunos años en busca de mejores oportunidades para apoyar a su familia.

Actualmente está atravesando un momento muy desafiante. Su madre fue víctima de una trampa tendida por su padrastro después de que ella intentara separarse de él por maltrato (algo que, lamentablemente, no es muy protegido dentro del contexto cultural y social en muchas comunidades árabes).

Como represalia, él puso drogas en su equipaje antes un viaje fuera del país y ahora, la madre de mi amiga está detenida en El Cairo de manera injusta.

Como pueden imaginar, la situación es abrumadora. A pesar de su fortaleza emocional y espiritual, como amigo siento la necesidad de hacer más. Quienes me conocen saben que haría lo mismo por cualquiera de ustedes en un momento difícil.

He decidido intentar recaudar fondos para apoyarla. Cada aporte realmente marca la diferencia en este momento. Ya sea para ayudar a cubrir los honorarios legales de un abogado, un boleto para que pueda visitar a su madre, un taxi, una comida, un café… nada que se dé desde el corazón es demasiado pequeño; al contrario, todo suma de manera significativa.
