In Memory of My Dad– Support My Mom After Tragic Loss

After nearly two months in the hospital, our dad passed away from medical negligence—something we never imagined facing.

On May 25th, our dad—a proud Navy veteran, devoted husband, Papa, and spiritual leader—fell and said he thought he’d broken his neck. In the ER, a CT scan showed a brain bleed but “no neck injury,” and he was rushed into emergency surgery. Miraculously, he pulled through and began recovering—talking, eating, and even starting therapy.

But something wasn’t right. He was in constant, severe neck pain. We begged for an MRI, but doctors insisted the CT scan was enough. For over three weeks, they dismissed his pain as “muscle soreness.”

Meanwhile, he declined—suffering seizures, & needing CPR repeatedly. Finally, after weeks of pleading, they did an MRI and discovered his neck had been broken all along.

The delay caused him to code 12x’s, worsening his spinal and brain injuries. On July 13th, after almost 2 months of suffering, we lost him.

Before this, he was healthy, athletic, and full of life. This didn’t have to happen.

My mom lived at the hospital by his side every single day. They were together 39 years. Losing him this way has left her heartbroken and financially overwhelmed.
