Hi Family and Friends! I am Jasmine Merritt, a student at the University of Alabama who is passionate about global health in underserved communities .
I am super excited to announce that I will be attending the University of Alabama's Medical Brigades trip this SUMMER. The trip is scheduled for May 7th thru the 15th, 2016!!! During my studies, I will expand my horizon of knowledge in Public Health, community involvement , and philanthropy. During my stay, I will be utilized in the capacity of a Community Health Worker.
This semester while attending class, I was approached by one of the medical brigade team members . They alluded that my personality would be perfect for the trip to Honduras and the specific needs for a trip they were planning. After days of contemplating, I inquired on the cost of the trip. The trip will cost me $1,850 which includes airfare, meals, lodging, and expenses of medicine that will be distributed in Honduras. Vastly excited, I soon realized that funding this trip would take more than myself and resources from the University. So I sat down and came up with a plan of action. Go Fundme!!!! What is Global Medical Brigades? University Global Medical Brigades is the world's largest student led health organization. Student volunteers empower communities in developing countries to improve the quality of life and environment. What will I be doing? With your help, I will be blessed with the opportunity to take vitals and patient history triage, shadow licensed doctors in medical consultations, and assit in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of our partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.

Your funds will go towards supporting my involvement in allowing the conmunity of Honduras to have access to adequate healthcare and to support social equality for families to live in better environments. As an activist for adequate healthcare in all communities, I believe that with your contribution the lives of Honduras will be changed forever.
