Before his death in November 2025, Jerome Kalkwarf had indicated a desire to donate enough money to purchase a fire truck for the City of Crete on behalf of him and his late wife, Donna. While he didn't leave that much money, he did leave enough to get the ball rolling.

In collaboration with the Crete Volunteer Fire Department and multiple companies and foundations, we are pleased to announce the purchase of a new fire rescue truck that will be dubbed "JD64" (Jerome / Donna / 1964 - their wedding year) when it is put into service.

Total cost of the fire truck is expected to be approximately $800,000. Because of financial commitments from the aforementioned entities, we are around 85 percent of that goal - we welcome support to help make JD64 a reality for Crete and the surrounding area. Any additional funds raised will be used to purchase new equipment (hoses, nozzles, etc.) for the new truck.

Thank you for your consideration!
