On August 10, Eastern Iowa has been ravaged by a derecho with winds of 140+ miles an hour. The storm crippled communities leaving citizens without power, water and communication methods. Thousands of trees and homes are damaged and communities are in need of help.
My name is Hunter Gehrke, I have been doing storm clean up and volunteering to help neighbors, friends, and strangers. There is so much work in the community and we cannot keep up with clean up with our manual labor alone, we are needing more equipment to continue to make an impact.
I have saved money for 6 years, and needs help to get the rest of the way to get the money needed to help with derecho damage. With this go-fund-me, I am raising the remaining funds necessary to purchase a used skid loader and trailer to get more work done in less time; it will enable me to:
1. continue to volunteer with derecho clean up and
2. get more work done in less time
3. enable efficiency, heavy lifting and loading and
4. continue derecho outreach to help strangers
5. assist my community in getting back to normal
This support is meaningful to me and my squad of volunteers because we can continue to help the people who are suffering, and help people try to get back to normal. We have witnessed price gouging and a lack of integrity in this time of need, and my team's goal is to provide outreach to help people in need. We are needing the funds as soon as possible because so many people are in need of help right now so a skid loader can be purchased by Monday August 31.

Thanks in advance for considering helping with this outreach! It means so much to our community for us to continue to help! Every little bit helps.
