Welcome to Daniel Ilario and Isabella Zizi’s fundraising page!

The two of us recently got accepted to participate in an It Takes Roots Direct Action and Community Resiliency Camp happening June 1st - June 5th in New York. We would appreciate your help in making this experience possible. We are looking to raise $2,000 total to help cover participation/registration fees for the two of us

About Daniel and Isabella:

Both are active members of Idle No More SF Bay and most recently were part of the Indigenous Delegation with the Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN) at the 2017 UNFCCC Conference of Parties in Bonn, Germany.

“The current political and climate crisis we are in today requires us to be prepared to organize effective direct actions. The money donated will help us improve our skills and knowledge that we will bring back to our communities to inspire positive change for future generations.” - Daniel

“I think that the skills and intentions that will be taught to us during this action camp are important to build on not just for ourselves but for our community within the movement.” - Isabella

Background:

“It Takes Roots (ITR) is a national multiracial alliance of alliances, led by women & gender oppressed people of color & Indigenous Peoples on the frontlines of racial, housing & climate justice across the US and Canada.  It is an outcome of years of organizing and relationship building across Climate Justice Alliance (CJA), Grassroots Global Justice Alliance (GGJ), Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN), and Right to the City Alliance (RTC).  We bring together 150 organizations in 30 states nationwide & in Canada. We are building a Visionary Opposition in the Era of Trumpism.”

“This national camp will be a groundbreaking and first of its kind that seeks to provide in-depth training for our folks in both direct action skills and survival skills. As more and more of our communities are impacted by hurricanes, floods, fires and massive displacement, our need to deepen our capacities to survive amidst climate disaster is critical and move us toward a just transition.

Included in this training are tactical skills that will benefit the work that we are involved in such as: Action Planning, Scouting Skills during actions planning + survival scenarios (food, water, shelter), De-escalation during actions + time of community crisis, Affinity Group Structure (and neighborhood organizing structures) & Earth/Resiliency Skills: Water Catchment / Purification, Plant & Food Identification ,Passive Solar Cooking / Installing Solar Energy, Disaster Permaculture, Plant Medicine & Disaster First Aid, Physical Defense & Safety, Healing & Resiliency in times of trauma.”
