Here is our letter!
“ If this baby is a boy, I think it may be The Lord
prompting us to research adoption,” said Trisha to
Tim when pregnant with our second born.
“ WHAT? where did this come from? I thought we only
wanted two kids?” responded Tim.
Obviously, our second born was a boy and thus began
my, Trisha’s, research on adoption. I read a lot of
books, blogs and stats. I spent a lot of time in prayer
and nagging Tim. He kept saying
no and I kept bringing it up!
That year my Bible study was
on Genesis which I wasn’t too
excited about. “I know Genesis,”
I thought. Well, I was wrong!
Literally every character in that
book trusted God in the unknown
future. They heard God calling
on their life without knowing the
end result yet stepped out in
faith anyway. Since we have had
a pretty safe life we have known
what we were getting into. There
are so many unknowns with adoption so it would be
a huge step of faith if this is the route our family was
suppose to go.
Many months past and I stopped bringing up the idea
of adding to our family thru adoption. I simply prayed
for peace for me if Tim really wasn’t feeling called to
this and for Tim to change his mind! haha! Tim came
to me one day and said, “I think we should look more
seriously into adoption!” WHAT? God had answered
my prayer and the non-nagging worked!
After they showed a video in church of a couple
adopting another baby even though they considered
themselves a “full” family is when my, Tim’s, heart
started to change. It was a cool story of God
bringing the couple together to make a difference
in a person’s life when submitting and following the
Lord. While watching the video I felt God was laying
on my heart to make a difference in a
young child’s life that may not have had
an opportunity to be in a loving home.
I felt God saying that the journey may
not be easy but when you look back
you will be amazed!
Satan’s ears perked up when he
heard Tim’s heart was softening
and we began facing some spiritual
warfare. Because Satan did not like
Tim’s response, we became nervous
to take the next step. We spent a lot
of time in prayer together. Tim had
major peace about it even when I had
gone back and forth on questioning. This whole
process has been an amazing story of how God can
completely change ones mind and teach one to step
out in faith. Our lives are fairly easy and safe. Are
we sure we want to disrupt the loving, comfortable
little family that we have? We have both only ever
wanted two children. Yet we are being called from
God to minister to orphans where we can share Jesus
with them in a loving and safe home while making a difference in their life. This faith journey is taking a step up a staircase where you can’t see the top rung. We do not know the outcome yet we are trusting God on this journey.
We don’t want to miss what God has in store for our family! We are choosing to live by faith where we trust that God will take care of us and the baby He is calling to join our family!
We first and foremost are asking for your prayers! There are so many unknowns with adoption so we have to keep trusting the Lord. We have been called into the ministry of adoption! Like missions work overseas, we are not all called to the jungles of Africa, but we may still have a heart for Africans. We look at adoption the same way. We are not all called to bring a child into our home, but we may still have a heart for orphans. If your heart strings are tugged when the talk of orphan’s come up, we humbly you to join us financially as we bring a baby home. Someday when we tell our child their life story they will see a beautiful story of God’s love thru how we were led to adopt and how so many people took a part in making the adoption happen. We are so excited to have you join us on this journey!
"We have a choice to serve God.
We don’t want to miss it."
