Help Mohammed & Ammar Reunite with Their Families and Rebuild Their Lives
Hello, my name is Sarah Brady from Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. I'm reaching out to help my dear friends, Mohammed Zaqout and Ammar Abu Zubaida, who are currently stranded in Cairo, Egypt, after fleeing the devastating violence in Gaza.
A Journey of Loss, Separation, and Hope
Mohammed and Ammar are lifelong best friends, talented architects, and artists who dedicated their lives to building their community in Gaza. The recent conflict has shattered their world:
- Their homes and businesses have been destroyed.
- They have lost countless family members in the violence.
- Forced to flee with nothing, they sought refuge in Egypt, only to find no support for Palestinian refugees.
A Family Torn Apart
During the chaotic evacuation through the Rafah border, tragedy struck:
Mohammed and his mother, Iman, were separated from his wife, Razan Mattar, and their 2.5-year-old daughter, Yasmeen.
The border closed before Razan and Yasmeen could cross, leaving them trapped in Gaza.
Mohammed is now in Cairo, desperate to reunite with his wife and child.
Struggling to Survive
Ammar, his wife Ahlam Abu Aish, and their two young daughters, Eilan and Eleen, also escaped to Cairo:
They, along with Mohammed, are struggling to provide basic necessities like food, shelter, and medical care.
With their life savings depleted, they face an uncertain future in a country that offers them no support.
Why They Need Your Help:
- Immediate Needs: Both families urgently need funds for rent, food, and medical care.
- Reuniting Families: Mohammed is separated from his wife and young daughter, who are still in danger in Gaza.
- No Support System: As Palestinian refugees in Egypt, they have no access to essential services or aid.
- Dreams of Rebuilding: Despite everything, they aspire to rebuild their lives and someday start a company to support their community.
Their Aspirations:
Mohammed and Ammar are not only seeking to survive but also to create a better future for their families and others. As architects and artists, they dream of starting a company that can contribute to rebuilding communities affected by the destruction of Gaza. This aspiration gives them hope and a purpose to strive for once their immediate needs are met and their families are safe.
How You Can Help:
1. Donate
Your generous contribution will:
- Provide immediate relief for rent, food, and medical expenses.
- Support efforts to reunite Mohammed with his wife and daughter.
- Help both families find a safe place to rebuild their lives.
- Invest in their future aspiration to start a company that aids in community rebuilding (This will happen only if and when their basic needs are met and will be clearly communicated if
2. Share Their Story
- Spread the Word: Share this campaign on social media, with friends, family, and any communities that may help.
- Raise Awareness: Bringing attention to their situation can increase support and put pressure on authorities to assist.
Why Your Support Matters:
Mohammed and Ammar's resilience in the face of such adversity is a testament to the human spirit. Your support will:
- Bring Families Together: Help reunite a father with his wife and child.
- Provide Stability: Offer a lifeline for two families who have lost everything.
- Restore Hope: Enable them to find a place of stability and safety to start healing and work towards their dream of rebuilding communities in Gaza.
Thank You:
From the depths of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read their story. Any support you can provide—whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign—brings Mohammed and Ammar one step closer to reuniting with their loved ones and rebuilding their futures.
How the Funds Will Reach Mohammed and Ammar
Transparency is very important to us. All donations made to this campaign will be withdrawn by me, Sarah Brady, and transferred directly to Mohammed and Ammar via Wire Transfer. Once we've raised $725, we'll initiate a wire transfer to enable them to set up a local bank account. This method ensures they receive the funds securely and promptly to meet their urgent needs to cover essential expenses like food, shelter, and medical care.
Why This Method:
Bank Account Setup: Establishing a local bank account will provide them with more stability and easier access to funds. Other money transfer services like P a y P a l, who we had initially hoped to use, upon further research have proven to be problematic for Palestinians by closing their accounts without warning leaving people in dire situations.
Direct Transfers: After the account is set up, all future donations will be transferred directly to their bank account from mine, ensuring they receive support promptly.
Financial Stability: Having a bank account provides them with more security during this challenging time.
Accountability:
- I am committed to full transparency and will provide documentation for all transactions.
- Regular updates will be shared on how your donations are making a difference.
Much Love & Gratitude,
