She had just given birth to three puppies when her uterus prolapsed — her body giving out in the most graphic, painful way imaginable. She was hours from death. Her newborn puppies had no idea their mother was dying.
Her family had nothing left. They had given everything they had. It wasn't enough.
Hollister Police Animal Care & Services made the call to Babe's Fund. We said yes. Together with Luna's family, we covered the emergency surgery that put her back together and saved her life.
Luna is alive. Her puppies are nursing. Her family is whole.
But our fund is not.
This is what Babe's Fund does — we show up in the moments when there is no other option, when the choice is a check or a death. We are not a shelter. We are not a clinic. We are the last phone call before the worst decision gets made.
And we need your help to keep answering.
$25. $50. Whatever you have.
The next Luna is out there right now. Her family doesn't know yet that they're going to need us. We need to be ready when they do.

Every dollar goes directly to emergency medical care for animals in our community — no overhead, no salaries, just lives saved.

Luna is a new mama — sweet, loving, and the center of her family's world. She had just delivered three beautiful puppies when a crisis struck: a prolapsed uterus, a life-threatening emergency that required immediate surgical intervention.
Her family loved her deeply and contributed everything they could toward her care. But the cost of emergency surgery was more than they could cover alone. Without additional help, Luna faced only one outcome: euthanasia — and three newborn puppies left without their mother.
Luna's family stepped up. And Babe's Fund, on behalf of Hollister Police Animal Care & Services, stepped up alongside them — together covering the cost of her emergency surgery. Luna survived. Her puppies still have their mama. And a family still has their dog.
This is exactly the kind of partnership that saves lives — a family who refused to give up, and a fund that was there to meet them halfway. But we can only keep doing this work with your support.
WHY YOUR GIFT MATTERS
Babe's Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with Hollister Police Animal Care & Services and Red Dog Rescue to fund emergency veterinary care, rescue interventions, and critical support for animals in our community who would otherwise have no options.
Every dollar you donate goes directly to cases like Luna's — animals whose lives hang in the balance, and families who are doing everything they can but just need a little help to get there. There are no salaries, no overhead — just animals in need and a community that shows up for them.
HELP US REPLENISH OUR FUND
Luna's surgery required a significant draw on our emergency reserve. We're asking you to help us rebuild so we can say "yes" the next time a call like Luna's comes in — because that call is coming. It always does.
Every gift, of any size, keeps our fund ready. $25 covers a vet visit. $50 covers medications. $100 helps fund an emergency triage. $500 funds a surgery like Luna's. Your generosity is what makes the next rescue possible.
ABOUT BABE'S FUND
Babe's Fund was founded in memory of Babe, a beloved dog whose life was taken intentionally in January 2023. From that heartbreak came a mission: to protect the animals in our community who cannot protect themselves, and to support the dedicated officers and volunteers at Hollister Police Animal Care & Services who answer the call every single day.
Thank you for being part of Luna's story — and for helping us write the next one.
