Asking for help for the Melton Family.

Whether you know Sam Melton from work, the bar , riding buddies , neighbors or just a long time family or friend, you know that he would never ask for help. That's why we are doing it for him.

After suffering for nearly 10 years with diabetic neuropathy in his legs and feet his doctor recommended a simulator be put on his spine. A trial procedure was done and went well. He had some pain relief and decided it was worth a shot to try the permanent stimulator.

On September the 20th Sam and Allison headed to Wellstar Kennestone hospital to have this routine surgery done. Being told the suegery was a success,They let him go home a few hours later.
The following morning Sam woke up in extreme pain and had extreme swelling. The doctors assured that this was completely normal and advised them to double up on his pain meds and gave him a muscle relaxer.
After finding a comfortable position and with the right dose of medication he was finally able to get some rest, although still in severe pain. The following day Sam woke up and tried to get out of the bed. But immediately hit the floor. After his kids checked him out they realized he was now paralyzed from the waist down.

He was taken by ambulance to Wellstar Douglas and Then transported to Kennestone. As soon as he arrived he was rushed into an emergency surgery where they found a hematoma had formed around his spine. The doctor removed the hematoma and went ahead and took out the stimulator.

Sam stayed in the ICU for several days, in severe pain and still paralyzed. After a few days a second MRI revealed another hematoma and a second emergency surgery was done. This time a drain was put in.

Its been over 3 weeks and Sam still has no feeling from the waist down. With Alli, his Daughter and caretaker by his side every single day, and lots of friends and family members visiting they are trying to help him stay positive.

September 12th Sam was moved to Encompass rehabilitation Center in Newnan. This is where they were told that modifications were going to have to be done to their home so that he would be able to get in and out of his house in a wheelchair.

We currently dont know the prognosis. We have hope that he will one day walk again, but the doctors says they just dont know. And it could be MONTHS before they know.

He will be coming home as soon as 10 days... but... he will be wheel chair bound. His home is NOT set up for easy wheel chair access.

This is where this family could use your help. The modifications that are needed aren't covered by insurance, and they are waiting to hear back from attorneys but haven't had any luck.

They have no idea how much the modification are going to cost.
They would be grateful for any help that you might be able to give. And if you cant give please continue to pray for Sam and his family.
