Help Us Find a Suitable Home for Chris
Dear friends and kind-hearted supporters,
We are raising funds to find a more suitable home for Chris, our beloved father-in-law, who tragically lost both legs in a motorcycle accident two years ago. Currently, my fiancé and I, along with our young son Skai, have moved into Chris's two-bedroom mobile home to provide him with 24/7 care.
Unfortunately, the living conditions are far from ideal. The house suffers from severe water damage, a mice infestation, and poor water quality. Chris is confined to the living room due to the lack of accessibility features, making it difficult for us to provide the care he needs in a comfortable environment.
With a second child on the way, we are desperate to move Chris into a handicapped-accessible home where he can regain some independence and we can continue to care for him in a safe and suitable environment. As full-time caregivers, our financial situation does not allow us to afford a new home or move.
Your generous contributions will help us secure a home that meets Chris's needs and provides a better living situation for our growing family. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in our lives..
Chris Gallagher—musician, father, and double amputee—is working hard to recover with the support of his family. We’re raising funds to help him move into a safer, wheelchair-accessible home that supports his healing and caregiving needs.
Help Us Get Chris Into a Safe, Accessible Home
Hi, my name is Brian Smith, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my father-in-law, Chris Gallagher.
Two years ago, Chris survived a life-changing motorcycle accident. Due to complications from diabetes and severe infections, he underwent multiple surgeries and eventually lost both of his legs—first one, then the other. Today, Chris lives with an ostomy bag and a bed wound on his lower back, and while he’s slowly healing, it’s been a long and difficult road.
But Chris isn’t just a survivor—he’s also a lifelong musician. He’s played bass in several bands over the years, including High Voltage and Big Jack, both AC/DC tribute bands. Music has always been a huge part of his life, and that love for music is still what keeps him going through some of his hardest days.
My wife, Alyssa Gallagher, and I take care of Chris full-time. Alyssa is 7 months pregnant with our second child. She works a full-time job during the day, then comes home and spends her nights caring for her father—managing his medical needs, mobility, hygiene, and overall support. It’s a lot for any family, and we’re doing everything we can to keep things together.
While we’re thankful to have a place to stay, our current home presents a lot of challenges. It’s not built for accessibility, which makes daily care difficult and adds physical strain for both Chris and us. There are also maintenance issues—like moisture and space limitations—that complicate things further, especially for someone with complex health needs.
We’re asking for help so we can:
• Move into a safer, wheelchair-accessible home
• Give Chris a healthier, more supportive environment for healing
• Help our growing family better manage full-time care
• Cover basic accessibility modifications and medical support essentials
There’s no urgent deadline, but every day spent in a space not suited for recovery makes life a little harder—and that’s why we’re reaching out now.
We’ve included a few family photos that show how much love and light Chris still brings to our lives. He’s not just recovering—he’s living, smiling, and inspiring us all. He’s a father, a grandfather, and a musician who still has music left to play and memories to make.
Thank you for reading, sharing, donating—anything you can do to help us get closer to a safe and accessible space for Chris. Your support means more than we can say.
With gratitude,
Brian, Alyssa, Chris & Family
