Together for Gaza: a lifeline for Muhannad and his family

Help Muhannad and His Family Find Safety

My name is Laura, and I live in Colorado. I believe that Palestine must be free once and for all. In this global crisis of humanity, empathy, justice, and human rights, I am here to do my small part. I stand with the oppressed and aim to amplify their message, reaching the hearts of those who want to contribute, no matter how small their efforts may seem.

Muhannad, a 17-year-old from Gaza, was supposed to graduate from high school this year, with plans to pursue a medical degree. Unfortunately, his dreams have been crushed by the ongoing violence and devastation in Gaza.

I have known Muhannad since April 2024, when we connected through Instagram. We communicate almost daily, sharing our feelings, fears, and hopes. He calls me "sister" since he doesn’t have one, and I call him "lil bro," as I don’t have any brothers. I dream of one day visiting him in person and hugging him tightly to express what text messages cannot convey.

Muhannad has been tirelessly working to raise funds to provide for his family of seven, who are currently struggling to survive in tents while seeking shelter from bombs. They need basic necessities such as food, water, medicine, warm clothing, and cleaning supplies. In this ravaged economy, prices have skyrocketed to ten times higher than before. To simply survive, they require at least $4,000 each month. With jobs obliterated, they can only rely on the generosity of people around the world who are witnessing Gaza's destruction from afar.

The family consists of:
- Suleiman (52 years old, father)
- Tahani (47 years old, mother)
- Abdullah (24 years old, brother)
- Muhammad (20 years old, brother)
- Muhannad (17 years old, brother)
- Yamen (15 years old, brother)
- Amr (13 years old, brother)

Before October 7th, Suleiman and Tahani, both educated professionals in the medical field, were able to support their family, often taking on physically demanding second jobs. The oldest brothers were attending university, nearing graduation in Information Technology and Graphic Design, while Muhannad was in his final year of high school, and the younger brothers were in middle school.

Once the borders open, the family wishes to leave Gaza and rebuild their lives in a safe place. However, crossing those borders will be expensive due to hidden fees, and starting over in a new country comes with its own set of challenges and costs.

I believe there are still good-hearted people in this world who can see the humanity in every individual. Our small gestures can be life-saving for others.

Please join me in donating and sharing Muhannad’s story. Let’s believe in the power of small acts of kindness to change the world for the better.
