Post Office Scandal- Help Lost Chances
Donation protected
Hello,
We are Lost Chances, a collective representing the adult children of former SubPostmasters affected by the Post Office Scandal, one of the most significant miscarriages of justice in British history. Our mission is to address the lost opportunities we faced while growing up as a result of the actions of the Post Office and Fujitsu.
Under current law, individuals like us are classified as ‘secondary victims.’ While we are deeply affected by the Post Office Horizon scandal, we do not qualify for compensation on our own. In some cases many of us were forced to leave school early to support our families after our parents faced convictions and imprisonment, bankruptcy, inhibiting our ability to complete A levels or pursue higher education—losses that are unfortunately not considered in any compensation claims our parents may file.
Lost Chances now represents hundreds of adult children whose lives have been profoundly impacted by the cover-up of known bugs and defects in the Horizon computer system, perpetuated by the Post Office and Fujitsu.
It is important to clarify that we are not seeking to diminish our parents' claims or take away from their compensation; we do not qualify for it ourselves and cannot apply to Post Office compensation schemes either individually or collectively. We have witnessed our parents’ suffering firsthand, often becoming their caregivers at a young age. We stood by them through wrongful imprisonment, financial ruin, depression, trauma, mental breakdown, and associated physical illnesses.
We seek recognition that children must always be considered in matters of justice, as true justice cannot be achieved without addressing the needs of all those impacted. Our strapline encapsulates this sentiment: “You can’t harm a parent without hurting a child.”
On our website, you will find a detailed account of the opportunities we have lost. With appropriate funding, we hope to regain some of these chances. As a charity, we aim to support various initiatives, including:
- Educational Grants
- Creative Career Development Training Opportunities
- Travel Bursaries
- Counseling and Mental Health Support
- Scholarships and Education Assistance
- Creative and Expressive Arts Programs
- Mentorship and Career Development
- Work Experience and Internships
- Innovation Grants and Entrepreneurship Support
