Help Blue Afford their Escape from Texas!

JULY UPDATE: Summer business at my job is slow, so my hourly wage has gripped by quite a few dollars. To be frank, I am worried about meeting my savings goal on my own! Less than 8 weeks left until our move, so Anything you can spare is so greatly appreciated ❤️

Hello loved ones and community….. I am moving from ATX to MPLS, MN!

Many of you know me and know I’ve lived in Austin my entire life. For those of you that do not, Hello! my name is Blue Prikryl-Martin, I’m 25, I use they/them pronouns and am a nonbinary transmasculine lesbian from ATX. some backstory / about me:

I unfortunately was not privileged enough to finish my high school education before having to drop out to work full-time at 17. Nor did I have an opportunity to move away for college or even attend college as many of my peers have had. I’ve been doing blue-collar and/or food service work full-time for the past 8 years, for many of my formative years.

In July 2024 I worked to earn my GED Certificate of High School Equivalency and since then have been working to get my debts paid & my finances in order! It has not been easy, as I have little-to-no financial literacy skills and only started making a livable wage for the first time a few months ago. Needless to say, my debts are all paid, my credit is up and I am in the saving process!

It has been hard to get by on my own since I was a teenager, without the kind of financial support many of my peers receive from their parents or other family.

I am asking my found family, loved ones and community members to help me fill this gap to get me a fresh start in a new place!

I love Austin, but Texas (has almost never been, but especially recently) is no longer a safe space for Trans folks. I do not feel safe here. I am worried I will lose access to my gender affirming care and rapidly feel the loss of my physical safety. On top of this, the weather is becoming increasingly inhospitable and difficult for me to thrive in. As an autistic person with Sensory issues and someone who’s chronic illness symptoms are heavily worsened by the heat, I need to go somewhere where my body will struggle less.

I’ve done extensive research about where I want to go that will be trans inclusive, more walkable, have a thriving queer community and drag scene, have weather better suited for my mental and physical health to thrive! The Twin Cities are such an ideal place for me, despite the cold Minnesota weather.

My roommate/bestie and I will be moving out of Austin with my cat Lunchbox & Cas’ fur children Theseus and Silo in late August, 2025! (Animals pictured below!!)

I am asking help to reach a goal of $2,000 to help bolster the savings I’m trying to pull together. This will be put towards moving costs; for the U-Haul, to secure housing, and to help cover expenses while I secure a job in Minneapolis!

(if there is anything leftover once I secure work in Minnesota it will be put towards savings for future top surgery expenses!)
