Hey everyone, I’m Michael Capponi. I grew up in Fairfield, ME and graduated from Lawrence High School in 2011. I entered into college at Unity College that fall and as you all know, was deep into hunting and fishing.
There was a farm nearby I always heard was awesome but heard it was hard to get permission to access, as they were loyal to the people that had permission. I soon after met Susan and her husband one afternoon in 2012 and they were the nicest people I have ever me.
I intermittently left for the military and Susan and her husband always allowed me permission whenever I was home. They welcomed me to goose hunt at first, which turned into Turkey, and then to deer. As the years progressed, the relationship grew. I could never repay the memories this family has allowed me.
Susan soon lost her husband thereafter. She allowed me to guide veterans for Turkey and deer hunts through Operation Reboot Outdoors. We changed lives one hunt at a time. I will never forget the day her husband watched us harvest 10/13 geese in a flock, they flew into his field and he yelled “kill them all” from his tractor.
Over the years susan has allowed me to help manage who hunts and who doesn’t. this has allowed us to help veterans and friends without the interference of other hunters.
In the recent storm, Susan lost her barn. It is a complete loss. I know I have multiple friends who I have brought to the farm to hunt, and hundreds of others who have seen the success and appreciate landowners. I would love for all my friends and family to donate anything they could in this tough time of year, to a woman who has openly opened her land to friends and I without hesitation. I believe in karma, and Susan is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Her contributions to the community and ESPECIALLY the veteran community, will not go unnoticed. Thank you.
