I’m writing this on behalf of someone I love deeply - My Mama. On July 25th, mom underwent major abdominal surgery, hoping for answers and relief to ongoing stomach issues. What followed was a cascade of complications none of us were prepared for: an autoimmune disease. Mixed Connective Tissue Disease is an unpredictable, chronic illness that has attacked her lungs in a major way. Surgery recovery is hard enough on its own - trying to heal with an immune system at war with your body is something else entirely.
Right now, mom can’t return to work or run her small business for a few more weeks. While she's grateful to have it, PFMLA only pays 60% cost of missed wages. She's struggling to rest and heal while dealing with the stress of upcoming rent, utility, car insurance, and car payment.
If you know my mom, you know she shows up—for her kids, for her community, for anyone hurting. She’s the kind of person who will hand you her last $10 and figure the rest out later. She’s fierce, funny, tender, and way too damn stubborn to ask for help.
So I’m asking for her.
Please consider donating or sharing this campaign to help mom stop stressing about bills and focus on healing. Every dollar truly helps lift a little weight off her chest—and lets her rest, recover, and receive the kind of care she’s always given so freely to others.
Thank you for loving her with me.
