Help moms and babies in Samara & surroundings
Donation protected
Hello everybody!
We want to thank you so much for checking out our fundraiser!
The economy of Samara, a small village with a beautiful beach in the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, and its surrounding areas depends entirely by tourism and for this reason the global emergency caused by Covid-19 has hit the local population very hard.
The Government, private institutions, nonprofits and groups of volunteers are intervening with food aid.
We thought to provide a tool to SAVE NOW but also WITH LONG-TERM POSITIVE EFFECTS.
Women are one of the most affected by the crisis, especially mothers, often single and with more than one child to care.
We ask your help TO BUY REUSABLE DIAPERS FOR BABIES in order to give them to the mothers in needs.
With one single action we could thus achieve 4 goals:
- TO MAKE UP FOR AN ESSENTIAL NEED
- TO HELP MOMS SAVING A LOT OF MONEY in the short and long term (an estimated average amount of 50 usd per month!!!). Especially at this time, when there is no income, mothers have to choose between buying diapers or using this money to buy food and pay bills.
- TO REDUCE / ELIMINATE A LARGE SOURCE OF POLLUTION such as disposable diapers
- TO MAKE MOTHERS INDIPENDENT of the help of third parties to whom they are forced to turn for diapers as gifts.
The cost of each diaper, including washable inserts, is 6000 colones (about 10 USD / Eur) and the goal would be to equip each mother with at least 5 diapers, even if during the rainy season it would be preferable if they had 10, due to the difficulty drying out quickly.
Reusable diapers can last at least 6 years.
The women we refer to live mostly in poor and densely populated rural areas outside the tourist center of Samara (such as Torito and Matapalo).
Households are usually very numerous (often more than 3 sons) and used to helping each other exchanging food, clothes, children care, etc.
A LITTLE HELP NOW IS ALSO A GREAT HELP FOR THE FUTURE!
We will appreciate your help! Even the smallest contribution will be essential!
...and please, SHARE IT, SHARE IT, SHARE IT!
We hope to meet you here in Samara as soon as it will be possible!
Thanks!
Pura Vida and...CIAO!!!
