My name is Honald, and I am a painter in Haiti. My art has always been my voice, my refuge, and my way of standing strong in the face of adversity. Today, however, I find myself in a situation where even this strength is no longer enough.
The reality in Haiti has become extremely harsh. Insecurity, the economic crisis, and the lack of real support for artists make life almost impossible. What was already fragile is now shattered.
I live with my family, and every day I feel a deep pain: the pain of not being able to provide for their basic needs. Feeding my family, protecting them, offering them a minimum of stability—these are things that seem simple, but for me, they have become daily struggles.
I continue to paint, despite everything. I paint with the hope that my work will find a way, that it will be seen, understood, and supported. But today, selling art has become extremely difficult. Opportunities are almost nonexistent, and the spaces that should support artists are unfortunately closed or reserved for a small circle.
This isn't just an economic crisis. It's a human crisis. It's living each day with the anxiety of what tomorrow will bring. It's seeing your efforts go unanswered. It's fighting in silence to avoid giving up.
Making this request for help is difficult for me. But I'm doing it because I have no other choice. I'm doing it for my family. I'm doing it to continue living with dignity, and to continue creating.
Your support, whatever form it takes, represents far more than financial assistance. It's an act of solidarity, a helping hand in a time when everything seems to be collapsing. It's proof that, even in the darkest moments, humanity still exists.
The funds raised will be used to:
Feed my family
Cover essential needs (housing, healthcare, safety)
Allow me to continue creating and sharing my art
If you cannot contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser can also make a big difference.
I remain hopeful. Hopeful for better days, hopeful to continue painting, hopeful to one day be able to thank each of you in a different way.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening, for your support, and for your kindness.
