Help Z's Family Get Out of Afghanistan
Donation protected
My name is Jerome Goehring and I live in Bristow, Virginia. I'm raising money on behalf of the family of my former translator, Z. The lives of Z's family are threatened under Taliban rule. Over the last 10 years, Z served faithfully as a translator for U.S. Forces and State department. Z worked for me and kept me safe. Please help me do the same for his family.
Z was granted a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV), which is a program allowing Afghan translators who assisted the U.S. government to come to America. Although the SIV program covers spouses and children, it does not include other family members such as parents and siblings. Thus, Z is sponsoring and filing an expedited Humanitarian Parole application for his family. Humanitarian Parole is a program that provides temporary status (usually a year) to folks who will then apply for permanent residency (asylum) while in the US. It’s a way to get his family out of Afghanistan quickly rather than the many months, even years, it takes to get a visa approved.
This is where we need your help. The cost of filing fees for Humanitarian Parole is $575 per person. For Z's family of 4, this amounts to $2,300 ($575 x 4). The cost of international flights to bring his family stateside is approximately $2,000. Any assistance to cover these filing fees and transportation costs is greatly appreciated. I will personally be transferring the money directly to Z.
Thank you,
--Jerome & Z
