Help Stephen Get His Scooter Back!
A few months ago, Stephen was the victim of a hit-and-run accident here in Baltimore. He sustained serious injuries, including a cracked rib and a punctured lung, and was hospitalized and incapacitated for over three weeks. During that time, his scooter, his main ride to work, appointments, and essential errands, were taken to the city impound lot.
Although police told him he’d be able to retrieve it, the city initially stated it would cost over $1500 in fees to retrieve the scooter. After several discussions with Baltimore City officials, the city has reduced the "impound" and storage fee to a total of $260 fees. For someone recovering from trauma and unable to work during his recovery, even that reduced amount is still simply out of reach.
Please help Stephen get back on his feet (and back on his wheels). This scooter represents independence, dignity, and the ability to move forward after an incredibly difficult few months.
Every dollar will go directly toward releasing his scooter and covering basic transportation costs. Update*** 10/29/2025*** After several hours and multiple conversations with Baltimore City Towing officials on site at the impound lot , we’re happy to share that Stephen’s scooter has been successfully retrieved from the impound lot!

While Stephen now has his scooter back, it will still require a few repairs before it’s road-ready again, and we’ll continue doing everything we can to help him get back on his feet (and back on his wheels).
