Help Olivia Fight for Transgender Justice

 

Hi Friends,

 

I'm Olivia Hill and I am in the legal fight of my life for transgender justice.

 

Actually, this fight for justice is not just for me; it's for all LGBTQI+ people who have had to fight or will have to fight for justice against a much more powerful system.

 

This is a David and Goliath tale.

 

There is a vast imbalance of power and money that I am forced to confront.

 

As a decorated 10-year Navy combat and disabled veteran, I'm ready but I need your help.

 

My journey to become the authentic woman I am should have no bearing on my job with my employer, Vanderbilt University, but they see it otherwise.

 

They promoted, commended, and awarded me and my 25 years of devoted service to them before I transitioned:
- Successfully held every position at the Vanderbilt University Power Plant including Acting Plant Manager.
- Chosen as 2020 Vanderbilt Advocate of the Year by the Office of LGBTQI Life.
- Chosen to represent Vanderbilt in the Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce.
- Sit on five Vanderbilt university-wide committees including the Women's Committee and the University Staff Advisory Council.

The video below I made for Vanderbilt at their request was during happier times.

However,  after I transitioned, they allowed my co-workers and supervisors to make sexual, vulgar, bullying, ridiculing, and demeaning remarks to me and in front of others, in violation of their own policies. 

 

When I filed a formal complaint, Vanderbilt placed me on administrative leave and effectively blocked me from pursuing an open managerial position for which I am imminently qualified. There were no consequences for the perpetrators of the harassment nor were there any physical changes made to the workplace.

 

I have filed a lawsuit against Vanderbilt. That's why I need your help. Lawsuits at this level and against such a powerful adversary are very expensive. They have unlimited funds. I don't. They are counting on me not being able to fund such an expensive fight.

 

Let's prove them wrong and not let them escape justice by simply outspending me.

 

It will take a team of us to send the message that no matter how powerful you are and no matter how much money you have, you will be held accountable for not treating ALL people justly and with respect and dignity.
